Can tempera paint be used on plastic?

Can tempera paint be used on plastic or styrafoam? Can tempera paint be used on plastic?
Absolutely not. it will not stick, it will peel right off. For plastic I would use enamel paint, or fusion spray paint. Can tempera paint be used on plastic?
No-it is more chalky and will flake off. Its made for paper. Try the new acrylic enamels that are out. They are inexpensive and easy to use and water based. You can buy them in the craft section of Walmart, in JoAnns and Micheals etc.Your need is for a paint with plasticides in it-like an oil, but thats too much of a hassle-so these should work well.About 1.50-3.00 for 2 oz-goes a long way.
no. and why would you want to use something expensive on Styrofoam anyway?
Tempera could be used on anything that it will stick to for sure. The only probably is that is is really a dull finish when it dries....and it could come off very easily. To be a little more blunt with my answer.....No, I would not waste my time putting tempera on plastic....or for that matter anything else other than a painting that I intended to frame and put under glass.

What is the name, kind, brand of ink or paint that is used in the printing of plastic cups?

I would like to print logo or designs in a plastic cup using the silk screen method. What is the name, brand, supplier of the ink or paint that is usually used in the printing plastic cups. Where can i find them? What is the name, kind, brand of ink or paint that is used in the printing of plastic cups?
I really don't know how to help you, but I can tell you this; inks for printing on materials like that have to be EPA safe, and are made specifically not to be poisonous if it is accidentally ingested, even in tiny amounts, so it would have to be organic based. These kinds of inks dry on a surface in a couple of seconds, when exposed to a strong UV light source. Try doing a web search on commercial printing inks, ink for silk screening, or a few similar listings. You should be able to find a printing company you can contact and ask who their ink supplier is. Good luck!

What kind of paint or spray paint is best to use on ABS plastic?

I need something durable and will last a in all types of weather for at least 5 years... anyone have an idea? What kind of paint or spray paint is best to use on ABS plastic?
Lots of new paints for plastic. I even found that rusteoleum now carries a line for painting your car. Huh? I used a plastic spray primer by rustoleum http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?鈥?/a> and then used painters touch that is supposed to be more durable than the regular spray paints to paint for my plastic pots. Two years in hotter than the surface of the sun temps and a little bit of freeze and rain. Krylon makes a really good kind that sticks to anything and is very durable. It's a farely new kind that they've come out with in the last couple of yrs. or so.

i have tried krylon triple thick glaze and i didnt like the results. i want a really shiny finish. Can anyone recommend a high quality clear coat spray paint that can be used on plastic?
You cannot easily paint Polyethylene, Polypropylene or of course many other plastics including Teflon.

    You can paint vinyl.

So if your plastic is one of the above, forget painting it and go to glazing it with a Polymer type finish that is used on automobiles to restore their luster and can be purchased at Walmart. Can anyone recommend a high quality clear coat spray paint that can be used on plastic?
    How about a '; Laquer?';
If you sand the item between coats with a wet sandpaper like 800 grit it will bring up the shine. Reg spray paint (not just the ';special plastic paint'; will work on plastic as well. You may have put on too thick of a coat also, do very thin coats.

I am painting my cousins plastic trunk before she goes off to camp. I outlined everything in pencil and I was wondering what kind of paint I should use so it doesn't chip off the trunk? The trunk is pink and plastic, the surface is rough as well. Any ideas? What paint to use on plastic?
I just checked out ';paints for plastic'; at the hardware store yesterday. I found a whole line of them (by Rustoleum).

    http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?鈥?/a>

I purchased only their ';Primer'; for myself though since I'm not sure what color I want to put on top (or may even used Contact paper, etc, instead of paint).

    http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?鈥?/a>

(...looks like the primer also comes in a regular can, not spray:

    http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?鈥?/a> )

There are instructions on the can for preparing the plastic for best adhesion of the paint.

If you're looking for paints to paint with using small brushes, etc., though, you can use various paints on top of their dried primer or on top of any color of their plastic paint.

Or perhaps ';glass paints'; would stick to rough plastic (but I think they're usually translucent?), etc.

For using *directly* on the plastic though, you'd need to watch out for using paints with petroleum solvents in them (some are called ';enamels';) if you didn't seal/prime the surface first because those can begin to dissolve the plastic over time--making it sticky, then eventually melty and yukky.

Since you've *already* marked the pattern, using a spray paint will be more difficult, though you could mask off areas around your lines perhaps as part of the solution.

Or you could trace your lines onto netting or that very-thin-see-through pattern-making sheeting from the fabric store, then redraw the pattern onto the trunk after applying and drying the plastic paint or primer (right through the netting or sheeting).

Or you could use one of the other ';transfer'; methods that use graphite pencils, or transfer papers (like those for drafting or for sewing), etc.

best paint for plastic containers that will contain food.?

Trying to paint 39 oz. coffee cans for canisters %26amp; need to change the color combo. Need something that will withstand dishwasher use. best paint for plastic containers that will contain food.?
Kathleen, I've painted many things and the paint has lasted through washing but not a dishwasher. Plastic containers are really hard since they aren't solid...they move when they are empty. I mean the surface moves. I've just used regular latex paints, but I don't paint the insides at all, where food will be in contact. I wish I could think of something that durable! As long as the surface isn't firm, like wood or ceramic, the movement will eventually crack the paint.

Sounds like you are redecorating! Have you thought about covering the containers in contact paper? Or washing them by hand? best paint for plastic containers that will contain food.?

You can buy some Rustoleum for plastic and spray paint it. I haven't used the plastic paint before, but i have had lots of success with Rustoleum spray paint for other projects. They run about $8-10 for a can though. I would see if there are smaller cans for sale if the frame is not very large. Then again, if you have several things you would like to match, it will make fast and easy painting!

Should I use paint or primer first on my plastic chair?

I want to paint a plastic chair that's going to be outside in the garden, and I don't know what paint method to use.

Can I just paint the chair with a spray can with a number of coats, or should I spray paint with primer first?Should I use paint or primer first on my plastic chair?
Yes, you can spray paint a plastic chair without primer. There is a spray can product called Fusion, especially made for plastic. You will need to clean the chair really well for good adhesion. The Mr. Clean magic eraser sponges are the very best product for this job. You will be amazed how these sponges work. After cleaning, of course you will have to allow the chairs to completely dry before spraying. If you have a lot of spraying to do, there is a spray can attachment used like a trigger to spray the paint so your index finger does not go numb for two days. Yes, that happened to me.

I hope my suggestions have been informativeShould I use paint or primer first on my plastic chair?
clean the chair, then go to a real paint store and get a can of spray paint that is made for plastic. you should not need a primer.
You can use krylron for plastic no need to prime before painting. But you need to clean your chair beforehand with a mild soap solution. use as many light coats as needed to cover the chair.

Spray Paint. Like Krylon Fusion http://www.krylon.com/products/fusion_fo鈥?/a> made for plastics.

    Method two.

take apart the computer, remove all the components that are attached to the plastic parts you want to paint, and bring those parts to a car body shop and have them paint the parts the colors you want. Sure, it will cost you, but it will look great, and you get to pick from metal-flake colors.

    Method three.

How can I get craft paint to stick on an acrylic/ plastic container?

Do I need to wipe it with a certain product, seal it or what? How can I get craft paint to stick on an acrylic/ plastic container?
They have some paints at Lowe's hardware, well probably any hardware, that are made specifically to stick to plastic. If you use regular paints it takes forever to dry, and can still be harmful since it would chip off easily. This plastic paint, usually in spray bottle, is made to bond to the plastic. =]How can I get craft paint to stick on an acrylic/ plastic container?
paint will only ';stick'; to a pourus surface...you could try to scratch it...but your prob out of luck there
Scuff up the plastic to create a surface that's not totally smooth, the paint should stick better to a sanded or scuffed surface. Best of luck!
Using a fine grade sand paper, lightly sand the container's surface. Apply acrylic gesso, let dry thoughly...then paint.
There are specific types of glues for different surfaces. Go to your local art store or call they can tell you. I think craft glue will not stick to that container unless you sand it first, but that is still pushing it!

Yep I'd go with a Stanley knife blade, sand paper, paint scraper, broken piece of glass anything just to get as much of the paint off as you can. Hi, I have allways found a smooth file will remove the paint and also give you grip for your solvent. There also many push fit fittings now, but be aware buy the more expensive ones if you are going along this route.
Use sandpaper to shift the paint, you need to roughen the pipe surface anyway as a ';key'; for the solvent glue. ok

Trashcans are usually made of vinyl and paint does not stick well to vinyl. You'll need to prime it first with a good primer like Zinsser or Kilz. Then you can use whatever paint you want. Just be careful not to bend the can or anything that may make the paint peel off. Have fun!

What kind of paint to use for plastic! (clear blackberry case decorations..)?

I have a clear plastic ceelphone case that i want to decorate with paint..

what brand of paint would i use, and where can i buy it!

Best answer will be chosen, ThanksWhat kind of paint to use for plastic! (clear blackberry case decorations..)?
At the crafts supplies store (Michaels, etc) you can buy model paint. That's designed to give a shiny permanent finish on plastic. You might also ask while you're there about a spray sealant to make sure your paint won't rub off when handled. What kind of paint to use for plastic! (clear blackberry case decorations..)?
If its hard plastic and not a bendable plastic Auto Paint is the best way to go.

DupliColor ';Truck, Van, SUV'; line is the best. About $5 a spray can.

Use the primer. After it dries for a week sand it down to smooth it out. Start with 800grit and finish with 1,000 grit.

Then paint. Don't sand the paint. Make sure you spray thin coats and only apply 3 coats a day. You'll need just a couple. 3-5 is enough.

1 week of it drying you can now start Clear Coating it.

After the clear coat has dried for a week you can now sand it. Start with 800grit, 1000grit, and then 1500grit

Rub it down with a auto ';rubbing compound'; to get out the little tiny scatches that sandpaper can't get out.
I agree with what someone said about model paint which can be purchased at craft stores as well as Walmart. However, I wouldn't use model paint for detailed work, only for solid colors. And yes, you will need to purchase a spray sealer if you use model paint. If you want to do some detailed work or designs (write your name, draw pictures, etc) then fabric paint called Scribblers (available at Walmart) works really well and it will make the designs ';puffy'; and three dimensional.

This is a link to Krylon's page showing their line of spray paints for plastics. Check your local hardware store and they should have a selection. As for adhesive, I'd go with Gorilla Glue, super glue, or possibly epoxy. Depending on how smooth the plastic is, epoxy may not work. If you can buff the surface a bit before attaching something, it might work. What kind of spray paint and glue can stick to plastic?
It would depend on what colour you want but I would recommend Citadel paints. They come in spray and pots and are mainly used on plastic and metal models. Also Citadel plastic glue works very well and not just on the models. I have used it on other things and it works brilliantly. Hope this helps you :)

The Citadel range can be found in www.games-workshop.com
For paint... just about any spray will work if you prepare the surface... make the surface rough... with sandpaper or a solvent.

There are glues made specifically for plastic... and a better bond also depends on how you prepare the surface, but a good plastic glue will melt the surface just a bit as is cures and will solve that problem.

Then go to your auto paint shop and ask for some vinyl primer (made for plastic bumpers) and some FLEX-ADD ( paint and primer additive to help it bend and flex). Then prime, sand and paint as normal. If you are unsure take your pieces to a paint shop that specialises in auto bumper repairs.
i own a repair and restoration shop, and i always use a brand of paint called SIMS vinyl and cloth paint, and it last for many years, its the best on the market right now,,but you have to clean the surface really good because any left over residue will make any good paint peel off,but with the Sim,s brand it will stay on ,i have done done over 5 years ago ,and the still look good ,but its all in how good you prepare the surface on it,good luck,i hope this help,s.

Can you paint a plastic tablecloth?

I would like a polkadot table cloth for a part I am having but can not find one in the right colors. I was wondering if I could paint polkadots on the tablecloth. If so what type of paint should I use?Can you paint a plastic tablecloth?
I have used fabric paint. The kind you get to design your own t-shirts, from a craft store. It is flexible so it wont crack when you lay out the table cloth. Can you paint a plastic tablecloth?
Tempera paint. Make sure to use a stencil. It might bead a little. It will depend on the table cloth. Don't get water in the brush, or it will cause it to bead.

Dries fast, cleans up easily and is non-toxic. You can buy it at Wal-Mart or OfficeMax.

The first link is a brief history, the second is product info.

But if the paint isn't working, use stickers. You can go into the scrap booking/craft aisle and get funky shapes and colors along with polkadots. There are a lot of stickers that aren't ugly or fragile.
Have you considered buying round stickers in the colors you want?

Business supply stores likes staples or office depot have all kinds in a lot of sizes.

Paint could chip or peel and IS poisonous so having paint around food is not a good idea to me. Good luck.
Use Contacpaper cut into circles. It won't be too permanent, but will be flexible and wipe off well. No paint will adhere without cracking..
oil base paint is harder to clean up but usually gives a longer lasting appearance and better results.
Don't use oil based paint because it will peel off after a little while. Use water based paint.
    YOU SURE CAN

If I have some clear plastic boxes, can I spray paint them so that if LEDs are put inside, the box will glow?

I want the box to look a colour, but also let some light through so it ';glows'; that colour. Is this possible? Does the plastic box material matter? Can you suggest suitable paints?

Thanks! If I have some clear plastic boxes, can I spray paint them so that if LEDs are put inside, the box will glow?
Look at a craft store like Michael's for stained glass paints. They are made to look like stained glass colors and work on plastic. They would be perfect for this. They are not spray paint however. If I have some clear plastic boxes, can I spray paint them so that if LEDs are put inside, the box will glow?

What kind of paint is used to paint small zoo animal figures or plastic? I dont want it to wash off?

    http://www.tapirback.com/tapirgal/gifts/friends/sharks/great-white-shark-plastic-f1010.jpg

and where I can get the paint? is it cheap? how can I apply it? more tips the merrier :)

thanks! What kind of paint is used to paint small zoo animal figures or plastic? I dont want it to wash off?
I paint plastic warhammer models so i know that Acrylic paint is what you're looking for here.

you apply it by brush, and it works well when using tiny brushes to paint detail work on models. you can also get the undercoats (white for undercoating under light paints and black for undercoating under dark paints) in a spraycan if you intend to paint large numbers of models.

You can use an old tile, saucer or somesuch to mix up your own colours on, and the brushes wash out in plain old cold water in seconds.

Once dry you can even coat the model in laquer (mat or gloss) and the paintwork is then stratch, chip and flake proof.

Being non-toxic as well means it can be used even for items that small children would be handling.

As for price, i know that the warhammer paints i use come in 50ml pots for about 拢1.50 to 拢2 a pot, but you can buy Acrylic paint in varying sizes from any art shop, hobby shop or even such places as WH Smiths for a couple of pounds for a similar size pot.

It's mostly advertised as Acrylic Poster Paint but its exactly the same paint.

On models it usually dries in 5/10 minutes for recoating or adding detail and can be laquered (if needed) after drying for a couple of hours.

If you spill any on clothes or furnishings, just wipe/wash off with cold water before it dries and its that simple.

Hope that helps. What kind of paint is used to paint small zoo animal figures or plastic? I dont want it to wash off?

How to paint chrome on black shinny plastic?

So I am considering getting one of those digital picture frames for someone on my list, and I can't find any cheap chrome frames. Her house decor is all purple, silver, etc. So I was thinking that maybe I could purchase a black one I found that is inexpensive and paint chrome on it. How would I go about doing this and what is a good type of paint that would give it a nice chrome look on plastic? Thanks for any help! How to paint chrome on black shinny plastic?
Chrome plating is a process that requires the right base, and involves the use of toxic chemicals and electrical charge. (I used to work in risk managment for a compnay that did plating work) Spray paint will only give you a ';silver'; painted finish.

Keep the frame black . . . and chances are if they have any problems with it, you won't have voided the warranty by painting it. And the chances of paint damaging it are pretty good. . . .How to paint chrome on black shinny plastic?
there is chrome paint used for bumpers, not a sheen as actual chrome plated metal, though it may work, it may take to long to dry, and not appear uniform, possible use a border in frame with chrome wrap cut out, and placed under glass,

You are asking the almost impossible - if you are trying to match shiny chrome like models, which is plated on. You have a chance if it satin silver without the high polish. You will have to sand the frame with fine sandpaper to scuff it, clean it with alcohol to get all oils off, shake the paint thoroughly and apply carefully. It would be nice if you could practice on something else but you might use the back for practice and tests.
There are spray paints in art/crafts stores and some hardware stores that have a primer you use first, then spray on the chrome. Be sure to do both sides, and tape off the glass in the frame.

  • Which is more long-lasting, wallpaper or paint (plastic emulsion)?

Please also mention pros and cons for both.Which is more long-lasting, wallpaper or paint (plastic emulsion)?
Wall paper is easy to clean, doesn't show wear and tear and can change the whole feeling of a room to reflect a decorating statement. It is so long lasting that one can tire of the print long before the wall paper needs to be changed.

Paint is cheap. Can be applied by someone with little skill (as long as they are neat) and when you tire of the color, can be repainted without removing the original color. (unlike wall paper)Which is more long-lasting, wallpaper or paint (plastic emulsion)?
With the different painting techniques used now, I find it easier to paint, not to mention cheaper. If my tastes change, it is so much easier to apply paint on top of existing paint than to have to steam, strip and peel off old wallpaper.
depends on the type of paper and paint. we had some paper from the 70's in a bathroom, and it was the fabric type that my father (who is anal about EVERYTHING) put up, and that stayed up for 25 years or more! really ugly stuff...

paint- you can repaint whenever the mood hits. no peeling, etc. might chip, but then you just repaint. i think it lasts longer.

paper- not so easy to change...must take it down, and is difficult to put up if you aren't patient. sometimes you can paint over it, but i don't recommend it.
Emulsion painting of walls is uniform and longlasting; but wallpaper can be changed immediately if we are displeased with current one. However painting is lastin forever.

What type of spray paint can be used on plastic but still give a metallic finish?

i want to find a red metallic finish to spray on PVC pipes. What type of spray paint can be used on plastic but still give a metallic finish?
Kyrlon is the only manufacturer currently making a paint that chemically bonds to plastic. Unfortunately, they only come in primary colors. That being said, there is a way around this. Use the Krylon as a base color because it will adhere to the plastic. Then come over that with a metallic paint (like Rustoleum, NOT Hammerite) to get your metal finish. Then seal the entire thing with a non-yellowing, UVB/UVA protecting polyurethane like Varathane to seal it and keep the metallic finish from peeling, flaking or fading. Use the outdoor formulation for both the Rustoleum and Varathane if your application is for outside. What type of spray paint can be used on plastic but still give a metallic finish?
If you use a plastic primer (Rust Oleum makes one), you can spray any color you want on top of it. Other than that, you're stuck with spray paint specifically for plastic and I've only seen those in regular colors and possibly a hammered finish.

This is the web site for the Krylon spray paint that adheres to plastic. On the right side of the web page, they do have some links for metallic. I don't think they have any red metallic.

They have a couple of shades of red in their regular color offerings.
There's a paint called Fusion (I think made by Krylon) specifically for use on plastics. They have a wide range of colors, including metallics.

David is correct about using Krylon. It is specifically engineered for this purpose and will hold up well for you. I would suggest obviously cleaning the surface with a mild degreaser or dish soap and warm water solution, then let it dry, then use Krylon. Good luck.

I have a whole section dealing with spraypainting surfaces on my website at http://thepaintprofessional.com/ so feel free to stop by and pick up some free tips and suggestsions.

PS- don't use valspar exterior latex paint like the other person suggested. This will not hold up on this plastic surface. It will work on Vinyl sidind but definitely not on this playset.
You should be able to paint the plastic house.

First scrub it clean with a scrub brush and soap %26amp; water.

Rinse well and allow to dry for a couple of days.

Then use a good quality exterior latex paint that is similar in shade to the existing plastic. In other words, do not paint it with dark colors.

I recently used Valspar exterior on my garage vinyl siding and got excellent results. Cost about $30. a gallon. Worth every penny. You may need 2 coats of paint to cover.

When painting a car, how do you paint a cars plastic bumpers. Should I apply primer on them? ?

hat type of paint is needed? Can i use the same paint as for the body panels? When painting a car, how do you paint a cars plastic bumpers. Should I apply primer on them? ?
You do the bumpers the same as the rest of the carWhen painting a car, how do you paint a cars plastic bumpers. Should I apply primer on them? ?
You can use all the same primer, paint, sealer, etc. When mixing these items for flexible body parts, such as the bumpers, you add a flex agent. It allows the paint and primer to bend without chipping or peeling. You could use the flex agent in all the paint for the whole car, but is an unnecessary expense.

Talk to the paint salesperson about what additives are needed for your brand of paint.
You can use same paint as for rest of the body but add Flex Additive to paint when your ready to spray plastic parts or any other flexible parts. Also if your going to prime make sure you add Flex Additive to that as well. Follow the mixing ratio for best result.

Do you know how to make special effects with wall paint using 2 colors and plastic sheeting?

Behr has special paint, can this be done with other paint?Do you know how to make special effects with wall paint using 2 colors and plastic sheeting?
I've been in the buisness for a long time, and no matter the paint, or even the number of colors, what your talking ab out is a faux finish. In the technique, you'd roll on a color, then apply even wax paper, saran warp, plastic drop cloth, usually wrinkled already, and gently remove it. The effect would show all the lines and creases in the finish.

Work in small areas at a time,,,,no larger than 3 x 3 to maintain some control, and the patterns will be different everytime, b ut you should blend when you can, and keep the base coat wet long enough to accomplish the finish you want, whether is that, rag roll, sponge, feather, etc.

There are hundreds of web sites, hundreds of books, and dozens of techniques. I use all of them.

    Rev. Steven

An added note,,, DO NOT apply color to the sheet, always to the wall and use the remove technique not apply techniqueDo you know how to make special effects with wall paint using 2 colors and plastic sheeting?
Yeah. You put whichever color you want as your base coat down. And then crinkle up the plastic sheeting into a wad, dip it lightly into the other color you hadn't used previously, dab it off on something so there is a real light coating (i.e. no clumps) and then lightly tap it onto the wall making sure to keep the coverage even. You can go over this again too if you have a third color you want to play with.
    no
you do not need to have special paint unless you are wanting a certain look. If you are wanting it to look like it has almost a crackle look, using plastic sheeting would be an easy way. If you are just wanting to almost blend 2 colors, they make this 2 headed roller that comes with a certain paint tray that you would pour 2 different colors in and put them on the wall at the same time. It is a really nice look. You could also do this with a sponge and a regular roller but this would probably take you longer to do. But any type of idea like that, you wouldn't need a specific type of paint unless you're going for a certain look.
Behr is a good quality paint, but there are other paints of equal quality that are less expensive that can be used for the same faux techniques. Another thing you may consider is that decorators have used everything from plastic shopping bags to saran wrap to achieve the same look for less expense.

Paint is much like any other product on the market. There are very cheap products that won't hold up, then there are reputable brands that have been around for years that still work just as well as the newer brands out there. Just because something is more expensive doesn't always mean that it better.

Interior decorating doesn't have to be expensive, and long before stores started selling special rollers, twisted up rags and other ';tools of the trade'; painters and designers were using paper bags, feathers and other odd medium to create these faux finishes. It's just that mfrs have found ways to market and profit from the ideas.

Most paint will chemically react with plastics. You should pick up plastic rated paint at an automotive body shop. The cellulose aerosol I have bought for my Rover 600 seems to react with the plastic bumper paint. Why ?
    cellulose will lift normal paint.
There are specific paints for bumpers. I would also recommend you switch to an Acrylic based spray paint, they are usually slightly less agressive.
There is wax on it most likely bumper blacking, wash of with parafin then hot soapy water
Bumper is plastic, whereas the bodywork is steel.

You need an appropriate primer applied first.

    with good old elbow grease
You must be careful here. Anything you use that can remove paint will damage the plastic on the dash. For example, if your dash is black, the product used to remove paint will turn that spot on the dash grey. Yeah, the paint will be removed but you will left with a faded grey spot.

Try hot water and soap and a clean towel. Go slowly, be patient. If you try another cleaner, test it on a spot first to see if it will alter the color of the dash.

If you are not able to hand letter it you can go to a local sign shop and ask for one of two things. One, vinyl lettering can be cut in countless styles and sizes and colors and you can just apply it for a permanent and cleanable graphic. Two if you want to use paint: ask the sign shop to cut you a vinyl painting mask. It is a masking tape like material reverse cut like a stencil. Apply it on the chair , rub it down and paint in the letters. when you are done peal off the masking and there you go!

  • What paint will stick to plastic milk jug? I need spray paint or brush paint hat will not flake off the jug.?

I need to paint these plastic milk jugs and I want the paint to stay on the milk jug and not flake off the way it has when I use acrylic paint once it dries. I need it to be permanent. Should I use auto paint? I am making masks with the milk jugs so the paint need to stay on for good! What paint will stick to plastic milk jug? I need spray paint or brush paint hat will not flake off the jug.?
Milk jugs are plastic and flexible, which means any paint is gonna have a hard time sticking to it and not flaking off.

But, to give you the best result that will last the longest, do this.

鈥?Sand the milk jug lightly with some fine sand paper until it's rough.

鈥?Put two coats of white ';primer'; on it.

鈥?Let dry and use spray paint to give it the color you want

** Gloss spray paint has more elasticity than flat spray paint. You're less likely to have problems if you use that.

Good luckWhat paint will stick to plastic milk jug? I need spray paint or brush paint hat will not flake off the jug.?
2 coats of spray paint should do it most spray paints don't need much prep there made to paint on almost anything

What paint do I need to paint my shower that has plastic walls?

I want to paint my stand up shower. It has plastic walls and looks terrible. Spring break is coming up and I wanted to give myself a project. Is there a good paint I could buy to paint my shower? It would need to be for plastic, and also waterproof? Any ideas? What paint do I need to paint my shower that has plastic walls?
There is a paint product made for plastic. It is called ';Fusion';, It is sold at walmart, and comes in numerous colors. It is available in pint, quart, and airesol spray cans. You may have to do a through cleaning of the walls of the shower before painting them. Soap residue can prevent the paint from sticking. You will most likely have to lightly sand the service of the walls, to provide a gripping surface for the paint to stick to. I'd recommend the cleaning, then a hand sanding with 220 grit paper, then wash the entire service with a product called ';liquid sandpaper';. Use caution, the liquid sandpaper is volital and should not be allowed to go down the drain. Just dampen your wiping rags with just enough of the product to wet the surfaces, then either wipe the excessive with a dry rag, or allow to air dry. Following the directions on both the liquid sandpaper, and the paint product. you should be able to get the results you want. What paint do I need to paint my shower that has plastic walls?
for my house we used this product called fusion and we purchaced it at the home depot
Yes, I think it is called emulsion paint. I did this once not on plastic walls but plastic tiles from the 1950's so it should work the same. You will need to go to a professional paint store like Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore though and ask questions. When I bought mine I had to mix a quart of this stuff into a gallon of paint and I don't remember exactly what it's called so make sure you let them know what you want to do. Good luck.
There is a product made by Klenks that is a bathroom shower paint kit.

They make a kit for porcelain and kit for fiberglass bathroom surrounds.

The kit has everything you need: An epoxy-based white finish paint, brush, roller, tray, cleaner, gloves, stir stick.

The retail price on this is around $40 dollars, which isn't bad considering it has everything you need in the kit.

How do I get dried acrylic paint off a plastic or wooden palette?

scrape it off. It should come off in big pieces if you nick it somewhere, and just start pulling..How do I get dried acrylic paint off a plastic or wooden palette?
Leave it under running hot water for a while then just scrub it off. It should come off easily. That's a cheap way to get it out!How do I get dried acrylic paint off a plastic or wooden palette?
    Soak and peel
Acrylic paint is usually water washable. Get a good scrubbing pad for teflon and some soap and water. It should come right off.
Go to you favorite Paint Store and ask them for the product Go-Off (made by Guardsman) it easy removes all acrylic latex paint

    or

Buy Methyl Hydrate from your hardware store, with a little work, it will take off the acrylic paint
It probably won't come off the wood palette, because acrylic sinks into porous surfaces.

With plastic, you can soak it in water and it will slide off. Or, you can let time do the job. Eventually, it will shrink and peel off.
Soak it in warm soapy water! It should come right off...if it doesn't soak it again.

how do i remove spray paint from the hard plastic cover on a exercise bike? ive tried everything

    goof off

    oven cleaner

    bleach

    areosol

    acitone

whats left? How do i remove spray paint from the hard plastic cover on a exercise bike?
If none of the above work, try lacquer thinner. I have removed spray paint with it before. How do i remove spray paint from the hard plastic cover on a exercise bike?
Goof off should do the trick, use a sponge with a ruff side on it, then armour all the plastic, Do it outdoors though, Goof off has a high odor....
Naphtha (lighter fluid) or rubbing alcohol is not on your list -- be careful with acetone it will ';melt'; may plastics. Without knowing the type of paint and type of plastic it's a crap shoot. The last possibility is MEK -- Methyl Ethel Keytone. (It is the basis of paint removers.) Since the acetone did not harm the cover -- the MEK should be OK. Test a small spot first -- MEK is available at any paint store -- read the handling directions carefully.

Lacquer thinner is as reactive to plastics as acetone -- basically they offer the same solvent properties.

Will paint pens wash off plastic cups in the dishwasher?

I have to label my daughters plastic sippy cups for Preschool. I would like to know if the paint pen ink/paint will survive the dishwasher. I could use sharpies, but I would prefer to use the paint pens if it will last. Thanks! Will paint pens wash off plastic cups in the dishwasher?
Worth a shot... Try it out %26amp; see if they stay on through a rinse or two.

Probably won't, though. Sharpie even fades after a few washes.

If you can, get label makers or something... They stick to the plastic %26amp; won't wear off for at least a few months I would assume. Will paint pens wash off plastic cups in the dishwasher?
It might be worth it to invest in some of these. http://www.mypreciouskid.com/name-labels鈥?/a>

    Dishwasher Safe

    Can be boiled/sterilized

Constructed with FDA compliant non-toxic material

Fits snug around containers - young children can't remove

Easy to transfer to different cups, bottles, etc

    Braille on custom labels reads ';InchBug';

Will never peel, fade or wash away!
In my experience it will last for awhile but eventually wear off. I've never come across any marker or sticker that has been 100% dishwasher-proof. In this case it might be worth it to spend the money on those nice sippies that have the name already pre-printed on them.
Paint pens will not survive a trip in the dishwasher.
