How do I dye or paint hard plastic in my Camaro. Everything I use seems to chip off?

First...you have to find the right paint. They make a flexable vinyl paint made just for what you are doing. Marhyde is one brand.

Next you have to prep the pieces you are painting properly. You will have to remove all the prevous paint. Then use a greeny scrub pad with a solvent based ';wax %26amp; greese remover.';

Scrub it good. They also make a clear spray that you can use first...it's called a ';Adheisive Promotor.'; You spray that first, then you spray your color shortly after.

Go to you local Autobody and Paint supplier and tell them what you are doing. They should be able to assist. Good luck!How do I dye or paint hard plastic in my Camaro. Everything I use seems to chip off?

put bondo on then paint it
Wipe it down with laquer thiner first. Do NOT rub, just wipe in one direction and let it dry. It opens the pores of the plastis. Use vinyl dye instead of paint. it should last years.
Dodgeman is right.Also,flex addative evaporates out of the paint and is only used to make the paint flexable during installation of the part so if you use a flex add,install the part as soon as you can.
EASY with the right materials. First you will need to clean and sand the plastic. Then go to your auto paint shop and ask for some vinyl primer (made for plastic bumpers) and some FLEX-ADD ( paint and primer additive to help it bend and flex). Then prime, sand and paint as normal. If you are unsure take your pieces to a paint shop that specialises in auto bumper repairs.
i own a repair and restoration shop,and i always use a brand of paint called SIMS vinyl and cloth paint,and it last for many years,its the best on the market right now,,but you have to clean the surface really good because any left over residue will make any good paint peel off,but with the Sim,s brand it will stay on ,i have done done over 5 years ago ,and the still look good ,but its all in how good you prepare the surface on it,good luck,i hope this help,s.
dip it in window tint overnight
