I paint plastic warhammer models so i know that Acrylic paint is what you're looking for here.

you apply it by brush, and it works well when using tiny brushes to paint detail work on models. you can also get the undercoats (white for undercoating under light paints and black for undercoating under dark paints) in a spraycan if you intend to paint large numbers of models.

You can use an old tile, saucer or somesuch to mix up your own colours on, and the brushes wash out in plain old cold water in seconds.

Once dry you can even coat the model in laquer (mat or gloss) and the paintwork is then stratch, chip and flake proof.

Being non-toxic as well means it can be used even for items that small children would be handling.

As for price, i know that the warhammer paints i use come in 50ml pots for about 拢1.50 to 拢2 a pot, but you can buy Acrylic paint in varying sizes from any art shop, hobby shop or even such places as WH Smiths for a couple of pounds for a similar size pot.

It's mostly advertised as Acrylic Poster Paint but its exactly the same paint.

On models it usually dries in 5/10 minutes for recoating or adding detail and can be laquered (if needed) after drying for a couple of hours.

If you spill any on clothes or furnishings, just wipe/wash off with cold water before it dries and its that simple.

Hope that helps. What kind of paint is used to paint small zoo animal figures or plastic? I dont want it to wash off?
Humbrol paints are the ones
