Can you paint plastic AND make it stay on?

I've got a dirt bike with all the usual plastic and I'm trying to find an aftermarket part that does not come in the same shade of blue that my bike is mostly covered in from the factory. Is there a quality paint that allows you to paint plastic AND will stay on? I am talking about painting an aftermarket plastic product. ThanksCan you paint plastic AND make it stay on?
There are specific paints that are made for plastic, but the most important part of the process is the prepwork. Scuff the plastic with 100 or 120 grit sandpaper. Use a spray primer in a similar color to the finish paint, which in your case would be gray. Allow to dry, then apply a light, even coat of finish. Let dry, sand with 600 grit emery cloth, and apply another coat. Don't try to cover in one coat or you will end up with runs. If necessary, sand with the emery cloth again and apply a 3rd coat. Good luck. Can you paint plastic AND make it stay on?
You are talking dirt bike!!!! You can paint it the way woodtick says but you will probably have some falls on it and it will scratch and scrape off. It will look good until that happens.
Krylon plastic paint is about $6/ can and it seems to last the best of the paints I've used. I sail RC model yachts and they take some bumps from other boats now and then.
you have to go to the hardware/paint store and get paint made for plastic, usually spray paint.
you may need to prime it as well
